Residency Equality for Federal Judicial Officials in District of Columbia

This act changes residency rules for federal judges and prosecutors in the District of Columbia and some other districts. Previously, D.C. officials had to live outside the District, which will now change. These changes only apply to individuals appointed after the act becomes law.
Key points
Federal judges and prosecutors in D.C. will no longer be required to live outside the District.
Residency rules for certain officials in New York will also be standardized.
The changes only apply to new appointments, not current officials.
