Algorithmic Justice and Online Platform Transparency Act

This act aims to increase transparency in how online platforms operate, especially regarding the use of algorithms and content moderation. It seeks to prevent discrimination in access to services, job offers, or housing, and to give users more control over their data and the information they see online.
Key points
Online platforms must clearly disclose how they collect and use personal data in algorithms, and how these algorithms influence what users see.
Anti-discrimination: Platforms cannot use algorithms to discriminate against people based on race, gender, religion, or other characteristics in access to housing, employment, credit, or public services.
Greater data control: Users gain the right to easily transfer their data between different online platforms.
Content moderation transparency: Platforms must publish reports on how they moderate content, including decisions on removing or labeling posts.
Voting rights protection: The act prohibits platforms from manipulating information that could intentionally hinder or defraud people in the voting process.
