Nurse Aide Training & Certification: Extended Waivers for Care Facilities

This act extends and modifies temporary rules for nurse aide training and certification, initially implemented during the pandemic. The goal is to ease burdens on staff and ensure continuous care in nursing facilities. Citizens may see more stable staffing in care homes.
Key points
Temporary nurse aide training rules are extended for at least 24 months.
Work experience during the pandemic will count towards required training hours.
Competency evaluations can be held at the facility if the state doesn't offer them weekly.
A study will assess if these changes helped staff and if they should be permanent.
