Easier Access to Medical Services for Seniors in Medicare

This bill introduces a pilot program to simplify access to medical services for seniors using Medicare. If a service is commonly offered by private health plans, and is safe and effective, it will be deemed necessary under Medicare. This aims to reduce issues with obtaining approval for treatments and procedures.
Key points
Simplified access to care: Medical services widely covered by private health plans will be more easily accepted by Medicare.
Safety and effectiveness: Services must be safe and effective to qualify for the program.
Pilot program: Changes will be gradually implemented in selected states to assess their impact before potential nationwide expansion.
Increased patient certainty: Patients may have greater assurance that needed services will be covered by Medicare if they are standard in other insurance plans.
