Protecting college students from harassment on campuses

This act aims to enhance student safety at higher education institutions by establishing new rules for preventing and responding to harassment. Colleges will be required to clearly define and communicate their anti-harassment policies to students, fostering a safer learning environment.
Key points
Colleges must develop and distribute a policy prohibiting harassment based on race, color, national origin, sex (including sexual orientation, gender identity), disability, or religion.
This policy must cover harassment on campus, off-campus, in dorms, and through digital technologies like emails or messaging services.
Institutions will need to describe harassment prevention programs and procedures for reporting and addressing incidents, including informing about disciplinary outcomes.
The act establishes a grant program for colleges to create or expand anti-harassment programs, offer support to victims, and educate the academic community.
Colleges will be required to report on harassment incidents and actions taken, helping to identify best practices in combating this issue.
