Protecting Personal Data from Foreign Adversaries
This act aims to protect U.S. citizens' personal data from theft and unauthorized access by communist countries, foreign adversaries, or state sponsors of terrorism. The President gains new powers to block mobile applications and software programs that transmit user data to these entities. Citizens may experience greater security for their data in applications, but some applications might be blocked.

The President can prohibit the use of mobile applications and software programs that steal or unauthorizedly transmit user data to communist countries, foreign adversaries, or state sponsors of terrorism.
Sanctions, such as asset blocking and inadmissibility to the U.S., will be imposed on foreign individuals and entities that develop or control applications transmitting data to China or the Chinese Communist Party.
Within 90 days of the act's enactment, the U.S. government will assess whether applications like WeChat and TikTok meet the criteria for sanctions.
