Farmer Support: Water Conservation and Healthier Soil

This act aims to support farmers in implementing water-saving and soil-improving practices. Farmers can receive increased payments for adopting drought-resilient and water-saving methods, as well as for perennial production systems. These changes are intended to help better manage natural resources and increase farm resilience to climate change.

Increased Payments: Farmers can receive up to 85% of costs for implementing water-saving and drought-resilient technologies.
Perennial Crop Support: New payments for perennial production systems, such as agroforestry, which can increase income stability and improve ecosystems.
Soil Health: Programs will promote soil testing and activities to improve soil health and carbon sequestration.
Payment Limit: The maximum support amount for one entity is $200,000 over 5 years, excluding Indian tribes.
