Consolidating Veteran Employment Services under Department of Veterans Affairs

This act transfers veteran employment support programs from the Department of Labor to the Department of Veterans Affairs to streamline and centralize assistance. This means veterans will be able to access comprehensive support in one place, making it easier for them to find employment and reintegrate. The changes will take effect on October 1, 2025.
Key points
All veteran job counseling, training, and placement services will be transferred to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
A new Deputy Under Secretary for Veterans’ Employment and Training will be established within the VA to oversee these programs.
Programs for homeless veterans and transition assistance programs will also fall under VA jurisdiction.
Existing roles for veteran employment specialists will be consolidated into a single function to improve service delivery.
