Increased Tribal Control Over SNAP Food Assistance Program

This act allows Indian Tribes and Tribal organizations to independently manage the SNAP food assistance program. This means Tribes can better tailor food distribution to their communities' needs. The goal is to enhance Tribal self-sufficiency in food security.
Key points
Indian Tribes can take over the planning and administration of the SNAP program in their areas.
This enables better adaptation of food assistance to local Tribal needs and traditions.
The Department of Agriculture will enter into agreements with Tribes, providing technical assistance.
