Paid Leave for Pregnancy Loss and Reproductive Health Support

This act introduces paid leave for employees following pregnancy loss, unsuccessful reproductive procedures, failed adoptions or surrogacies, and diagnoses affecting fertility. It aims to provide time for physical and mental recovery, and to support related research and education. Citizens will gain additional paid time off to cope with challenging experiences related to fertility and loss.
Key points
Employees will receive at least 56 hours of paid leave annually for needs related to pregnancy loss, unsuccessful medical or adoption procedures, or fertility-impacting diagnoses.
Leave can also be used to care for a spouse or domestic partner experiencing the same circumstances.
The act prohibits discrimination against employees using this leave and requires employers to inform about these new rights.
Provisions are made for public education on pregnancy loss and for scientific research into its causes and treatment.
