Recognizing Prior Learning: Faster Employment and Career Advancement

This act aims to help adults and dislocated workers find jobs more easily by recognizing their existing knowledge and skills. New competency assessments will allow experience gained outside formal education to count towards credentials or help in finding jobs that match their qualifications. Businesses will be encouraged to hire based on skills, not just degrees.
Key points
Experience Recognition: Your skills and knowledge gained from work or military service can now be officially assessed and credited towards degrees or certifications.
Faster Employment: New assessments will help employers better understand your qualifications, potentially speeding up the hiring process and matching you with suitable positions.
Support for Businesses: The act encourages companies to hire based on actual skills, not just educational degrees, opening doors for individuals with rich practical experience.
Career Planning: It will help create individual employment plans that consider your existing skills and identify any additional training needed to achieve career goals.
