Improved Care and Technology Access for Veterans with Spinal Injuries

This act aims to enhance the quality of life for veterans with spinal cord injuries by providing annual preventative health evaluations and increasing access to modern assistive technologies. This will enable veterans to better manage their health, pain, and improve their independence in daily life.
Key points
Veterans with spinal cord injuries will receive annual, free preventative health evaluations to assess complication risks, pain management, diet, and prosthetic equipment.
Access to assistive technologies, such as powered exoskeletons and speech-generating devices, will be increased to improve veterans' independence and mobility.
The Department of Veterans Affairs will be required to inform veterans about available evaluations and their benefits, and to report on the use of assistive technologies.
