Evaluating Opioid Treatment Infrastructure in the U.S.

This Act mandates the U.S. Comptroller General to conduct a detailed evaluation of the availability and needs of opioid addiction treatment. This aims to better understand where support is lacking and how to improve access to effective therapies for citizens, including vulnerable groups and Native Americans.
Key points
The evaluation will cover detoxification, clinical stabilization, and rehabilitation programs, both inpatient and outpatient.
Geographical differences in treatment access and the availability of evidence-based programs will be examined.
The report will also identify barriers to collecting overdose data, which could improve responses to the opioid crisis.
