Ban on Federal Funds for Chinese Firms in US Infrastructure Projects

This new act aims to protect US public infrastructure by prohibiting the use of federal funds for construction, repair, or maintenance projects if the contractor is a company linked to the Chinese government, the Chinese Communist Party, or the Chinese military. This means citizens can be assured that their tax dollars will not support China-controlled entities in critical infrastructure projects within the United States.
Key points
Federal funds cannot be provided to entities headquartered in China or controlled by the Chinese government/party/military for US infrastructure projects.
This applies to the construction, repair, renovation, and maintenance of public buildings, roads, bridges, waterworks, and sewers.
State and local governments are also prohibited from using federal funds for such projects involving Chinese entities.
The provisions will take effect 180 days after enactment and apply to projects starting on or after that date.
