End Medicaid Estate Recoveries and Limit Property Liens

This act aims to protect the assets of Medicaid beneficiaries and their families. It repeals the requirement for states to recover medical assistance costs from estates and significantly limits the ability to place liens on beneficiaries' property. This means families will no longer fear losing inherited assets to cover healthcare costs.
Key points
States will no longer be able to recover Medicaid medical assistance costs from a beneficiary's estate after their death.
All existing liens on Medicaid beneficiaries' property, imposed for recovery purposes, will be withdrawn within 90 days.
New liens on Medicaid beneficiaries' property will be prohibited, protecting their homes and other assets.
