Strengthening Online Privacy: New Data Protection Rights for Children and Teens.

This Act amends the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 to extend protections to teens (defined as individuals over 12 and under 17). Online operators must obtain verifiable consent from parents (for children) or teens before collecting personal data. The law bans the use of personal data for individual-specific advertising directed at users under 17 and broadens the definition of personal information to include biometrics and other identifiers.
