Funding for Communities Hosting Power Lines: Infrastructure, Conservation, and Recreation.

This law establishes a new fund, financed by interest from large federal loans used for electric transmission line construction. These funds are directed to local governments and Indian Tribes hosting these projects. Citizens will benefit from improved local infrastructure (schools, roads, hospitals), expanded broadband access, and the development of parks and recreational areas.
Key points
Communities hosting major new electric transmission lines (999 MW or more) will receive federal payments for local development.
Up to 80% of the funds can be used for essential public services and infrastructure, such as schools, hospitals, roads, public transport, police, and fire services.
At least 20% of the funds must be dedicated to conservation, habitat restoration, improving recreational access, and supporting natural climate solutions (e.g., tree planting).
