Protecting Consumers from Electricity Rate Hikes and Power Reliability Drops.

This bill aims to protect residents in six Western states from sudden, significant increases in electricity bills and drops in power reliability. It prohibits the closure of federal hydropower dams if doing so would raise customer rates by over 10% or decrease grid stability by more than 10%. If a dam must be retired, its full baseload generation must be replaced immediately to maintain supply.
