Reviewing Qatar's Major Non-NATO Ally Status Due to Hamas Ties.

This legislation mandates the State Department to urgently review Qatar's designation as a Major Non-NATO Ally (MNNA). The review is prompted by Qatar hosting leaders of Hamas, a terrorist organization responsible for attacks and holding US citizens hostage. If the Secretary of State cannot certify that Qatar is fully cooperating on counter-terrorism and hostage release, the MNNA status must be immediately terminated, impacting bilateral security cooperation.
Key points
Requires an immediate 90-day review of US-Qatar relations and Qatar's ties to the Hamas organization.
The Secretary of State must certify whether Qatar is using all leverage to secure the release of US hostages.
If Qatar fails to certify that it does not support terrorism and has expelled Hamas leaders, its Major Non-NATO Ally status will be revoked.
