Increased Financial Support for Surviving Spouses of Medal of Honor Recipients

This law removes a restriction that previously forced surviving spouses of Medal of Honor recipients to choose between a special pension and Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC). With this change, eligible widows can now receive both benefits concurrently. This significantly increases the financial support provided to these families who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Key points
Allows surviving spouses of Medal of Honor recipients to receive both a special pension and DIC simultaneously.
Eliminates the legal provision that previously prohibited the concurrent receipt of these two financial benefits.
