Exclusive D.C. Jurisdiction for All Federal Immigration Lawsuits and Appeals

This bill mandates that all federal lawsuits related to immigration law, including challenges to removal orders, must be filed exclusively in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. This centralization could significantly increase the logistical burden and cost for foreign nationals seeking to challenge immigration decisions if they reside far from D.C., potentially limiting access to justice. The change concentrates all national immigration litigation into one court.
Key points
The D.C. District Court gains exclusive jurisdiction over all cases arising under immigration laws.
This includes legal claims brought by foreign nationals challenging deportation orders or any other action authorized under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
