Safer Air on Airplanes: Phasing Out Engine Bleed Air Systems.

This law mandates the FAA to gradually eliminate "bleed air" ventilation systems in new and existing passenger aircraft designs over 30 years. The goal is to enhance cabin air quality and protect passengers and crew from inhaling potentially harmful engine oil fumes. New aircraft designs must immediately stop using these systems.
Key points
New turbine and turbo-prop aircraft designs are immediately prohibited from using engine bleed air ventilation systems.
Within 7 years, newly manufactured aircraft still using these systems must install filters to remove oil fumes and particulate matter.
A 30-year timeline is established for the complete phase-out of bleed air systems in the manufacturing of all covered aircraft types.
