Military Widows Retain Benefits After Remarriage: SBP and DIC Equity.

This law ensures that surviving spouses of service members (Gold Star Spouses) will not lose critical financial benefits, such as the Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) annuity and Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC), solely because they remarry. The change removes previous age restrictions that caused payments to stop upon entering a new marriage. Furthermore, individuals who previously lost these benefits due to remarriage will have their payments resumed.
Key points
Continued eligibility for the Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) annuity for military surviving spouses, regardless of remarriage.
Continued eligibility for Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) for surviving spouses, even if they remarry.
Resumption of SBP and DIC payments for individuals who lost benefits due to remarriage prior to the law's enactment.
