AI Transparency in Election Ads: Mandatory Disclosure for Generated Content.

This law requires all political advertisements (digital, broadcast, print) to clearly disclose if they contain images, audio, or video substantially generated or altered by Artificial Intelligence. This ensures citizens can distinguish between authentic and synthetic media, promoting transparency in the electoral process. Failure to comply results in significant financial penalties up to $50,000.
Key points
Political ads using AI to create or materially alter visual or audio content must include a clear disclaimer.
The disclaimer must be conspicuous, visible (text) or audible (audio) for at least 4 seconds, stating who paid for the AI-generated content.
Violations of this disclosure requirement are subject to civil penalties up to $50,000 per communication, aiming to deter the use of undisclosed synthetic media.
