Increased Social Security Benefits for Surviving Spouses of Veterans.

This bill eliminates the Government Pension Offset (GPO) reduction for widows and widowers of veterans who also receive a government pension (such as a state or local retirement benefit). This change allows these surviving spouses to receive their full Social Security survivor benefits, significantly increasing their monthly financial support. The new rules apply to benefits paid starting from the date the law is enacted.
