Extending Burma Sanctions and Creating Special Coordinator for Democracy.

This legislation strengthens US policy aimed at restoring civilian government in Burma (Myanmar). It extends the existing sanctions framework by two years and mandates annual assessments for imposing new sanctions, particularly targeting state-owned enterprises, a key bank, and the jet fuel sector to cut off funding for the military regime. Furthermore, it establishes a Special Coordinator position to enhance diplomatic efforts, sanctions coordination, and support for democracy advocates and humanitarian aid.
