Housing Aid for Students: Support for Former Foster Youth.

This law removes previous restrictions that prevented students from accessing federal housing assistance, such as housing vouchers. It introduces special rules allowing students living in campus housing who are or were in foster care, or are emancipated minors, to receive housing support. Crucially, this assistance will not be counted as income when determining eligibility for scholarships or other student financial aid.
Key points
Federal housing assistance (e.g., Section 8 vouchers) becomes available to students living in campus housing, which was previously prohibited.
The program primarily targets students who are or were in foster care, or are legally emancipated minors.
Housing assistance received will not reduce eligibility for scholarships or other federal student financial aid.
