Eliminating most medical care fees for federal prisoners

This law eliminates most fees charged to federal prisoners for accessing healthcare services within prisons. This means inmates will no longer have to pay co-pays for routine medical visits, aiming to remove financial barriers to treatment. The only exception is when a prisoner is charged for medical costs if they inflicted an injury on another inmate.
Key points
Federal prisoners will no longer be charged fees (co-pays) for standard medical visits and services.
Fees for medical treatment will only be collected from a prisoner who intentionally injured another inmate, covering the victim's treatment costs.
