Better Maternity Care for Military Families: TRICARE Enrollment and Resource Guide.

This Act aims to improve maternal health care access for military families. It designates pregnancy and loss of pregnancy as qualifying life events, allowing beneficiaries to immediately adjust their TRICARE enrollment for faster access to care. Furthermore, it mandates a comprehensive study on maternal care access issues within the military health system and requires the creation of a detailed resource guide via the Military OneSource program.
Key points
Pregnancy and loss of pregnancy (miscarriage or stillbirth) are now Qualifying Life Events, enabling immediate changes to TRICARE coverage for faster access to necessary care.
The Department of Defense must study and report on staffing shortages (e.g., OB-GYNs) and barriers to maternal care access in military facilities and the TRICARE network.
Military OneSource must publish a dedicated, comprehensive guide detailing available maternal health services, financial aid, and continuity of care during permanent changes of station.
