Establishing Federal Food Administration: New Food Safety Standards and Inspections.

This Act establishes a new agency, the Federal Food Administration (FFA), taking over all food safety responsibilities from the former FDA. The goal is to ensure safer food for citizens through more frequent inspections, better monitoring of additives and pesticides, and faster response to foodborne illnesses. This change aims to reduce the incidence of foodborne diseases and diet-related chronic illnesses.
Key points
A new agency (FFA) focused solely on food safety is created, separating these functions from drug, cosmetic, and tobacco regulation.
Mandatory, regular inspections of food facilities are introduced: high-risk facilities at least once a year, and infant formula manufacturers at least every 6 months.
The agency will strictly oversee the safety of food additives, monitor pesticide residues, and coordinate responses to foodborne illness outbreaks.
