Abolishing the Department of Education and Shifting School Funding to States.

This bill abolishes the federal Department of Education and terminates most of its programs within 30 days of enactment. Funding for K-12 education will instead be provided directly to states as block grants, calculated based on the federal income taxes paid by residents of that state. Key student aid programs, including Pell Grants and federal student loans, will continue but their administration will be transferred to the Department of the Treasury.
