Increased Funding for Water: Expanding North Dakota Water Resource Systems
This law significantly increases the authorized funding for critical water projects in North Dakota, allocating hundreds of millions of dollars to complete and expand water infrastructure. Over $680 million (plus indexing) is authorized to complete major water projects, including the Northwest Area Water Supply and the Eastern North Dakota Alternate Water Supply.
An additional $743 million (plus indexing) is authorized to finalize five key rural water systems within specific Indian Reservations (e.g., Spirit Lake, Standing Rock).
All new authorized amounts will be indexed to account for fluctuations in construction costs.
