Repeal of most provisions of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993

This bill repeals most provisions of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA). However, it retains provisions requiring States to conduct a general program to remove ineligible voters from official lists (due to death or change of residence) and provisions imposing criminal penalties for fraudulent voter registration or voting activities. The bill also amends the stated purposes of the Act to focus on protecting electoral process integrity and maintaining accurate voter rolls.
Key points
Repeal of most NVRA provisions: The bill eliminates most requirements of the 1993 Act, subject to specific exceptions.
Retention of list maintenance: States must still conduct a program to remove ineligible voters from lists due to death or change of residence.
Criminal penalties: Provisions regarding penalties for fraudulent registration and voting activities remain in effect.

Additional Information
