Easier Access to Federal Surplus Equipment for Local Police Forces.

This Act removes federal restrictions implemented since 2015 that limited state and local police agencies from acquiring surplus federal equipment, including military gear. This change is intended to enhance the operational capabilities and safety of local law enforcement by providing easier access to protective equipment and vehicles. The law also mandates the free return or replacement of equipment previously seized under the now-invalidated regulations.
Key points
Federal restrictions on transferring surplus equipment (including military gear) to state and local police are eliminated.
Local law enforcement gains easier access to protective gear and vehicles to improve officer and public safety.
