USDA Contractor Accountability: Disclosing Labor Law Violations
This Act requires entities entering into contracts with the Department of Agriculture (USDA) to disclose annually to the Secretary of Labor any administrative determinations or judgments regarding violations of specific labor laws, including child labor and safety regulations. Companies found to have serious, repeated, or pervasive violations may be placed on a list of entities ineligible for USDA contracts. Furthermore, the USDA will not conduct meat or poultry inspections at facilities owned by entities on this ineligible list.
Key points
USDA contractors must disclose if any determinations regarding labor law violations have been issued against them within the preceding 3 years.
The Secretary of Labor prepares a list of entities ineligible for USDA contracts due to serious or repeated violations.
Entities on the ineligible list cannot receive contracts from the USDA for that year or the subsequent 4 years.
The USDA will not conduct meat or poultry inspections at facilities owned by entities on the ineligible list.
