Tribal Labor Sovereignty: Exempting Indian Enterprises from Federal Labor Law.

This bill excludes Indian Tribes and their enterprises operating on tribal lands from the definition of "employer" under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). Consequently, rules governing unionization, collective bargaining, and labor disputes for these businesses will be determined by tribal law, not federal law. This grants tribes greater autonomy over their internal labor matters.
Key points
Tribal enterprises located on Indian lands will no longer be subject to the federal National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).
Employee rights regarding union formation and collective bargaining in these businesses will now be governed by the specific laws of the Indian Tribe.
