Mandatory PFAS Exposure Testing and Documentation for Military Personnel and Families.

This law mandates that the Department of Defense must include an assessment of exposure to harmful PFAS chemicals during routine health evaluations for service members. If potential exposure is confirmed, the DoD must provide free blood testing. The provisions also extend the right to free blood testing to former service members and their families who lived near contaminated military installations.
Key points
All periodic, separation, and deployment health assessments for service members must now include an evaluation of PFAS exposure risk if stationed at identified contaminated locations.
Service members, veterans, and their families who lived in contaminated areas are entitled to free blood testing to document PFAS exposure.
The DoD must establish a registry of exposed individuals and share this data with the Department of Veterans Affairs to streamline future benefits claims.
