Stricter Rules for Importing Wild Animals: Protecting Against Invasive Species.

This law tightens regulations on bringing wild animals, fish, and reptiles into the U.S. to protect against invasive species. It establishes a default ban on importing non-native species that were not already widely traded, unless the government determines they pose no significant risk. The Secretary of the Interior also gains emergency power to immediately ban imports if an imminent threat arises.
Key points
Most non-native animals not widely imported in the year before the law's enactment will be automatically banned from entry into the U.S.
The government can issue immediate, temporary bans (up to 3 years) on importing species if they pose an urgent threat to humans, agriculture, or wildlife.
The goal is to safeguard local ecosystems and farming interests from damage caused by dangerous or invasive animal species.
