Protecting health benefits for small business employees eligible for Medicare

This law protects older workers at small companies (fewer than 20 employees) who are eligible for Medicare but have not yet enrolled. It prevents small employers from reducing health benefits in their group plans solely because the employee could have enrolled in Medicare Part B. This ensures that these workers can rely on their full employment coverage longer without fear of benefit reduction.
Key points
Small employers (fewer than 20 employees) cannot reduce health benefits for Medicare-eligible employees who have not enrolled in Part B.
The change ensures that employer-provided insurance remains primary and full for older workers until they choose to transition to Medicare.
