Protecting Veterans' Gun Rights: Restricting VA Reporting to NICS.

This law aims to protect veterans' Second Amendment rights. It stops the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) from automatically reporting veterans who need help managing their financial benefits (fiduciary) to the national instant criminal background check system (NICS). A veteran will not lose their right to purchase a firearm solely because the VA determined they needed a financial manager, unless a judge specifically rules they pose a danger.
Key points
Veterans will not automatically lose their right to own firearms if the VA appoints a fiduciary to manage their benefits.
Information can only be sent to the background check system (NICS) if a court order or judicial finding determines the veteran is a danger to themselves or others.
