Ban on Devices Increasing Semiautomatic Firearm Rate of Fire (BUMP Act)
This law establishes a federal ban on possessing, selling, or manufacturing devices designed to materially increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic firearm, making it approximate a machinegun. Citizens who lawfully possess such modified firearms must register them within 120 days under the strict regulations of the National Firearms Act (NFA). Failure to register the firearm within the deadline will render its possession illegal.
