TPS Reform: Stricter Eligibility, Congressional Review, and Travel Limits.

This law significantly tightens the rules for granting and extending Temporary Protected Status (TPS). It restricts eligibility for individuals with criminal records or those who entered the country without inspection, and severely limits international travel for TPS holders, potentially leading to status withdrawal. A major change requires Congress to actively authorize subsequent extensions of TPS for any designated country.
Key points
Individuals with two misdemeanors or one felony conviction, or those who entered the US unlawfully, are ineligible for TPS.
Traveling abroad, even with prior approval, may result in immediate status withdrawal, and such travel no longer provides a path toward applying for a Green Card.
Upon termination of TPS, individuals have 180 days to leave the US; after this period, they become a priority for deportation enforcement.
