Free Access to PrEP/PEP Drugs and Protection Against Insurance Discrimination.

This law mandates that most private and federal health insurance plans must cover HIV prevention medications (PrEP and PEP) and related services without any out-of-pocket costs. It also prohibits life, disability, and long-term care insurers from discriminating against individuals solely because they are taking these preventive drugs. Educational campaigns and grant funding are established to increase access for the uninsured.
Key points
Elimination of all cost-sharing (copays, deductibles) for PrEP/PEP drugs, lab tests, and clinical monitoring under major insurance programs (Private, Medicare, Medicaid, VA, TRICARE).
Insurance companies cannot deny or limit life, disability, or long-term care coverage, or raise premiums, based solely on an individual using HIV prevention medication.
Enhanced privacy protections ensure individuals can access these benefits under a family plan without the primary policyholder being notified.
