Food Assistance Stability: Excluding Job Training Income from Benefit Calculations

This bill amends the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to exclude certain payments received by household members from income calculations for SNAP benefits. Specifically, earnings from most work programs, employment and training programs, vocational rehabilitation programs, and refugee employment programs are excluded. However, payments from specific veterans' educational assistance programs remain included in income calculations.
Key points
Payments from defined work and training programs are excluded from household income for SNAP purposes.
The exclusion applies to vocational rehabilitation programs and refugee employment programs.
Certain veterans' educational assistance programs (e.g., Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance) are exceptions and remain counted as income.
