Paperwork Burden Reduction: Health Coverage Statements Upon Request
This Act amends the Internal Revenue Code to provide an alternative manner of furnishing health insurance coverage statements. Instead of automatically furnishing written statements, reporting entities may provide clear notice that individuals can request a copy of the statement. Upon request, the statement must be furnished within 30 days or by January 31 of the following year, whichever is later. These changes apply to statements for calendar years after 2023.
