Expanded access to rural home loans for small towns and villages

This Act expands the availability of federal rural housing loans by increasing the population limit for eligible communities from 2,500 to 10,000 residents. Furthermore, these loans can now be used to finance the construction of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) on the same property. These changes aim to facilitate home ownership and support multi-generational housing solutions in smaller towns.
Key points
Rural housing loans will now be available to communities with up to 10,000 residents, significantly broadening the program's reach.
Loan financing will explicitly cover the construction of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) on the same lot, aiding multi-generational living or rental income.
