Stricter Work Requirements for Food Assistance and Federal Housing Aid.

This bill reinstates and tightens work requirements for individuals receiving federal food assistance (SNAP) and extends these requirements to those living in public housing or receiving rental subsidies (Section 8). This means more recipients, including parents of older children, must document employment or training participation to maintain their benefits.
Key points
COVID-era waivers exempting SNAP recipients from work requirements are repealed, making compliance mandatory again.
Parents or caregivers are generally no longer exempt from SNAP work requirements if their dependent child is 6 years old or older.
The same SNAP work requirements are now applied to individuals receiving public housing or tenant-based rental assistance (Section 8).
