Farm Support: Increased Base Acres and Higher Loan Rates for Underserved Farmers.

This Act provides a one-time opportunity for underserved or economically distressed farmers to increase their farm's base acres, enhancing their eligibility for federal programs. Starting in 2025, the calculation for commodity loan rates will be adjusted to account for rising crop input expenses, offering a stronger financial safety net for producers. The legislation also sets a fixed assistance rate for textile mills beginning in August 2025.
Key points
Underserved farmers can increase their base acres (up to 160 acres) once, improving access to government support and subsidy programs.
Starting in 2025, commodity loan rates may increase, as the calculation will factor in rising costs like fuel, fertilizer, and labor.
A new, fixed assistance rate of 4 cents per pound is established for textile mills, effective from August 2025.
