AI Safety and Security: Tracking Vulnerabilities and Protecting Critical Systems.
This Act aims to enhance the security of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems by establishing a voluntary, public database to track AI safety and security incidents. This allows the government and industry to quickly identify and address vulnerabilities that could endanger life, health, property, or critical infrastructure, ultimately increasing citizen protection against uncontrolled AI operations. Furthermore, an AI Security Center is established within the NSA to support security research.
Key points
Creation of a voluntary, public database to record AI security and safety incidents, ensuring the anonymity of reporting parties.
Requirement to update national vulnerability databases (NVD and CVE) to specifically include AI system weaknesses.
Establishment of an AI Security Center within the National Security Agency (NSA) to conduct research and develop guidelines for secure AI deployment, especially in critical systems.
Development of best practices for companies to manage supply chain risks related to the data used for training AI models.
