Easier Crop Insurance and Discounts for Small and Urban Farms.

This Act simplifies procedures and offers significant premium discounts for crop insurance, specifically targeting small, urban, and direct-to-consumer farms. The goal is to help these producers transition from the basic Noninsured Crop Assistance Program (NAP) to the more comprehensive Whole Farm Revenue Insurance Plan (WFRP), enhancing their financial security and access to better loss protection.
Key points
Small and diverse farms benefit from streamlined reporting requirements, including submitting acreage reports only twice a year.
Farmers voluntarily transitioning to the Whole Farm Revenue Insurance Plan (WFRP) can receive premium discounts of 25% in the first year and 50% in subsequent years.
Alternative methods for loss appraisal (like photos or drone footage) are now permitted if a loss adjuster is unavailable within 72 hours of reporting a loss.
The maximum coverage level available under the basic NAP program is increased to 100% for eligible producers.
